A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. We offer two different types of dentures: complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all of the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain.

When a person is missing teeth, they may experience a variety of problems. The person may become less confident in their smile and experience difficulty speaking or eating certain foods. Dentures are appliances that are custom made to replace a person’s missing teeth to restore the appearance and function of their mouth.

Dentaduras parciales

A removable partial denture or bridge usually consists of replacement teeth attached to a pink or gum-colored plastic base. It is sometimes held in the correct position by a metal framework. Partial dentures are used when one or more natural teeth remain in the upper or lower jaw.

Dentaduras completas

Complete dentures can be either conventional or immediate. Conventional dentures are placed after the natural teeth are extracted and the gums have started to heal. That process takes about 8 to 10 weeks. Immediate dentures are placed immediately after the natural teeth are removed.

Like your teeth, your dentures should be brushed daily to keep them clean. Brushing can also help keep the teeth from staining.

Preguntas Frecuentes

Yes, dental implants can be used along with cemented bridges, eliminating the need for a denture. The cost is usually higher, but the implants and bridges more closely resemble the feel of natural teeth. While dental implants are a great alternative to dentures, not everyone is a good candidate for implants.
La mayoría de los seguros dentales cubren una parte o la totalidad del coste de las prótesis dentales. No obstante, ponte en contacto con tu compañía para conocer los detalles de lo que cubrirán.
New dentures may feel a little odd or loose for a few weeks until the muscles of your mouth learn to keep them in place and you get comfortable inserting and removing them. Also, it is not unusual for minor irritation or soreness to occur. You also may notice an increase in saliva flow. These problems will diminish as the mouth adjusts.
Eating with new dentures will take a little practice and may be uncomfortable for some wearers for the first few weeks. To get used to the new denture, start with soft foods cut into small pieces. Chew slowly using both sides of your mouth. As you get used to new dentures, add other foods until you return to a normal diet. Be cautious with hot foods, hard foods, and foods with sharp-edged bones or shells. Avoid foods that are extremely sticky or hard. In addition, avoid chewing gum and toothpicks while using dentures.
